Meet Dr. Krista

Naturopathic Doctor and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapy Specialist

I grew up surrounded by the beauty and power of nature in a town close to Yosemite National Park. I was raised to live in collaboration with the earth and all it has to offer. Having grown up in a family of conventional doctors, I knew something innately important was missing from the current medical system of the US- the recognition of patients as human beings with lives and circumstances. Naturopathy became the natural choice for me and I hope you will choose it too.

In our visits together, I listen to YOU and your story. I strive to cultivate the physiological, mental, and spiritual beauty that naturally resides within us all. I love to uncover the mystery that makes each one of us unique and to tailor my recommendations to resonate with your specific circumstances. We will utilize nutrition, botanical medicine, homeopathy, hydrotherapy, nutraceuticals, Ayurveda, yoga, meditation, movement, art, and much more to aid in both acute and chronic conditions.

Meet Dr. Adam

Naturopathic Doctor and licensed Acupuncturist

I chose naturopathic medicine in my early twenties after recognizing the shortcomings of conventional medicine, particularly as I saw my father debilitated by chronic disease after the NYC 9/11 disaster. I realized that health is more so determined by lifestyle and the body’s ability to heal itself.

Our clinic uses life-altering, educational programs to improve your health by creating stronger foundations for health. We optimize your health so that you can feel less “stuck” and more “free” to live your life. I also use a large variety of natural therapies within naturopathic medicine and acupuncture to treat a variety of chronic and acute conditions. All recommendations are customized to the individual with a commitment to the ability of your body to heal itself.

Credentials & Training

About the Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is based upon a holistic approach to disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Naturopathic medicine bridges traditional nature-based therapies and conventional allopathic medicine. The goal of a naturopathic physician is to employ the most effective and safe, yet least invasive and toxic therapies that support and promote the body's innate healing process. Naturopathic medicine addresses the root cause of illness rather than the mere suppression of symptoms. It is appropriate for a broad range of health conditions affecting people of all ages. How does it work?

Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing that can treat most symptoms and conditions. It accomplishes this by relieving tension and removing blockages to the flow of blood and Chi, i.e. "life energy" using very fine needles that are inserted very gently into the skin to stimulate specific points and channels. With removal of these imbalances, normal physiological function is restored allowing the body and mind to heal itself.

Does it hurt?

Acupuncture tends to be an incredibly gentle and relaxing experience for people. With insertion of a needle, most people feel either nothing at all or an occasional mild pinch.

The needles used are a mere fraction of a millimeter wide, similar to a single strand of human hair. In most cases they are inserted only 10-20 millimeters below the skin.

Ayurveda is a science that teaches one how to live life.  It is an ancient and modern practice originating in India.  Ayurveda and Yoga are both from the ancient Vedic Texts and are most effective when practiced together. There are three objectives in Ayurveda: to conserve health, to prevent disease, and to *treat disease. These objectives are obtained through adjustments in lifestyle such as nutrition, sleep and movement routines. Our clinic offers Ayurvedic counseling based on tongue and pulse reading, an individualized approach to yoga, pranayama (focused breath-work), diet, spices, meditation, as well as dinacharya (daily living routines), to restore balance and harmony.

*Please note that Ayurvedic practitioners at our clinic do not diagnose conditions nor do they prescribe or perform medical treatment due to state law.

The "therapeutic hierarchy" pictured here is a representation of a naturopathic doctor’s approach to alleviating symptoms AND treating the cause of your disease. This approach prioritizes therapies that are most effective and safe, yet least invasive and toxic. These low force, high efficacy therapies are found toward the bottom of the triangle.

Higher force interventions are located higher on the triangle, and include therapies such as pharmaceutical medication and surgery. While these therapies are important, especially in emergent and other medically necessary situations, we prioritize treatments that better align with nature in order to create more sustainable and long-lasting change.
